Professor Taskeena Fazil is a well-known writer and critic, born in 1955 in Srinagar, Kashmir. With a Ph.D. in Urdu Literature from the University of Kashmir, under the guidance of Prof. Ale Ahmad Suroor, Professor Taskeena Fazil is the author of more than 15 books that involve research and critical analysis of Kashmiri and Urdu literature.

Prof. Taskeena Fazil is the daughter of the renowned Kashmiri poet Fazil Kashmiri. Some of her popular literary works are "Firaq Gorkpuri Ki Shayri Main Hundastani Anasir" which was her Ph.D. topic as well, and "Fazil Kashmiri Shakas Aor Shair", Prof. Taskeena Fazil is one of the many respected researchers and writers who have worked on the literary works of Alama Iqbal.

Her work on Alama Iqbal has been recognised by the renowned academician and researcher Prof. Dr. Rafi-ud-Din Hashmi. Her books on Alama Iqbal, "Iqbal Naksh Hai Rang Rang" and "Iqbal Aor Inkay Zair Asar Shora Aor Udaba," have been received very respectfully by the critics.

Born on 1st May 1955 in the Maharaj Ganj area of Srinagar, Kashmir, Prof. Taskeena Fazil graduated from Govt. College for Women Nazwakadal Srinagar, did her postgraduate work in Urdu literature at the University of Kashmir, securing 1st postion with first division and later completed her Ph.D. at the University of Kashmir under the guidance of Prof. Ale Ahamad Suroor. As a child, she was highly influenced by her father, Fazil Kashmiri, in contrast to her father, who is widely popular for his poetic work.

Prof. Taskeena Fazil developed an interest in the research and critical works of literature and created her own space among the literary circles of Kashmiri and Urdu language. As per Prof. Dr. Rafi-ud-Din Hashmi, as a woman writer and researcher, her papers, articles, and books on hugely famous literary figures, particularly Alama Iqbal, make her work exceptional.
